A. Yes. You can install Computrace LoJack for Laptops on any desktop, laptop or tablet computer running Windows Vista or Windows XP (32-bit) or Mac OS X v10.3 or higher.

A. No, unlike our corporate products, Computrace LoJack for Laptops does NOT give you the ability to remotely delete data from your machine.
Q. Can employees at Absolute Software see what is on my computer?
A. No, employees at Absolute Software do not have access to your computer or any information contained on your machine. The Computrace software is initiated from your computer to our Monitor Center.
Q. Is Computrace LoJack for Laptops monitoring my activities?
A. No. The Computrace software is inactive until its next scheduled call; at that point, the software will only report a small amount of information. Only if the computer is reported stolen by the customer is any further action taken.
Q. What information is Computrace LoJack for Laptops reporting?
A. Our software only reports your computer’s make, model, and hardware serial number, plus the IP address of your protected computer.
Q. Is Computrace LoJack for Laptops available worldwide?
A. No, currently, Computrace LoJack for Laptops is only available to customers in the United States, Puerto Rico and Canada.

A. No. The product is optimized for efficiency and does not affect system performance or security.

Q. How often does LoJack for Laptops “call home”?
A. Usually, Computrace LoJack for Laptops will call once per day. If your computer is reported stolen, the calls will automatically increased to once every 15 minutes.
Q. Can LoJack for Laptops work with my DSL, wireless, or cable Internet service?
A. Yes. LoJack for Laptops works over dial-up or any type of Internet connection.
Q. Does LoJack for Laptops need a certain ISP to work?
A. No. LoJack for Laptops uses any available Internet connection.
Q. What do I do if my computer has been stolen?
A. If your Computrace LoJack for Laptops equipped computer is stolen, you will need complete the following steps:
- File a police report with your local law enforcement ASAP or within 7 days of the theft.
- Contact our Recovery Team and report your computer as stolen. You will need to provide your contact information, computer information, and details of the theft, including police file number and investigating officer. Click here for more information.
- Relax. Let the Recovery Team get your computer back.
Q. What should I do once I have filed a report with the Recovery Team?
A. Once you file the report with Recovery Team you will receive an email confirmation of your report and will have limited access to the product website in order to see whether your computer has contacted the Monitoring Center. Rest assured our Recovery Team will contact you once news on your computer is available.
Q. If the recovery is unsuccessful, what are the conditions for the money-back guarantee?
A. In order to be eligible for the money-back guarantee on the Computrace LoJack for Laptops software, the following conditions must be met:
- A theft report must be submitted to local law enforcement within ninety 90 days from the actual date of theft. A record of this report, including the police file number should be obtained.
- A report of theft or loss must be made to the Recovery Team within ninety 90 days from the actual date of theft. The report may be submitted via the LoJack for Laptops website or directly with the Recovery Team through fax or phone at 1-604-608-4930.
- The theft or loss must have occurred within the United States, Canada, United Kingdom, or Australia.
- LoJack for Laptops must have successfully completed at least one (1) post-theft call within 60 days of the date the theft was reported to Absolute.
